Essential Steps to Apply Epoxy Flooring

All the steps below are simple. However, it would be best if you were very careful.

  1. First, thoroughly clean the concrete surface. You will need to remove any hardened debris. Use a shovel for that. Plus, you can use a de-greasing solution. It can help you clean for the epoxy to settle quickly.

  2. Next, you will need a hose to wet the floor. This is ideal for enhancing your cleaning phase. Moreover, you can use a brush with stiff bristles to clean the room's corners. After you are done with cleaning and getting the water out, make sure to dry off the surface using a vacuum.

  3. Now, you will need to make an acid etching mixture. You have to wear a vapor respirator at this stage. Please do not carry out this phase with the respirator because it can be dangerous for your health. Even sprinkle an acid and water mixture in the room.

  4. Use an acid brush. Start etching now and continue for 10 minutes. After etching, rinse the surface three to four times to get rid of the acid. Leave the room to dry overnight.

  5. Now, it is time to mix your epoxy coating solution. You will need to power-mix the resins. To ensure optimal blending, it is advised to blend in a second bucket. That way, your coating mix will leave a refined touch.

  6. After that, start applying the mixture along with the parameters. You can use duct tape to mark the boundaries. Now, start applying around 4 inches of epoxy coating along with the taping or the walls.

  7. Roll out the epoxy. For that, you will need a nine-inch roller. Attach it with a pole. Now, dip it into the solution as if only its bottom half is covered in the epoxy. The roller will carry the right amount of epoxy mixture. This way, apply the first coat and let it dry.

  8. Next, apply a second coat. Please know that if you add an anti-skidding solution, the epoxy coating will not be much glossy. However, it is good to add an anti-skidding solution to the mixture. Apply the second coat evenly. After coating, leave it dry.

  9. Finish with masking off the bottom of the walls. This will give a more cohesive touch to the room.

You are done!
